The Citizenship Education Caravan is being organized for the first time in the Republic of Moldova from the 25th to the 30th of September 2023, where in Chișinău and four other cities will be held workshops, discussion panels and thematic debates with the participation of experts from the civic education field. The project is organized within the Eastern European Network for Citizenship Education (EENCE), and specifically in the Republic of Moldova the Caravan is guided by the National Association of Young Historians from Moldova with the support of the Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Agency for Civic Education (BPB) funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During 5 days the project has the purpose to inform, interact with students, teachers, specialists in the historical, political, social fields, whom together with invited experts from Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan are going to discuss topics such as: „Education for European integration”, „Democratic citizenship: rights and responsibilities”, „How to use the past to build sustainable societies”, „National citizenship vs. European citizenship” etc.

Therefore, on the 25th of September, in the Class of the Future (Clasa Viitorului) at the Pedagogical State University „Ion Creangă”, the inauguration of the project will take place, along with thematic workshops with the participation of experts such as: Valery Balayan (Ukraine), Azar Ramazanov (Azerbaijan), Nino Gvaramadze (Georgia), Yuriy Petrushenko (Ukraine). Further following, between the 26th and 30th of September, the Citizenship Education Caravan will continue its activities in the cities of Edineț, Soroca, Strășeni and Căușeni.

The mission of the Eastern European Network for Citizenship Education is to contribute to sustainable development of civil society in the Eastern Partnership region and neighboring countries by expanding the scope of civic education and strengthening the capacity of organizations and experts working in this field. Citizenship Education Caravan 2023 is a chain of events organized within the EENCE partner countries such as: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, etc.
